Save the date! Our community Blood Drives with Red Cross are scheduled for December 8 and February 8.
Pipes and Drums
We will be performing at the OSBA conference (Oregon School Board Association) in Portland where we have been selected to open Friday's conference! This is a great opportunity and honor for our students to be able to play, as numerous other groups put in for this opportunity and very few get the chance to perform. We will be performing at 9:00 am on Friday, November 13th.
We have kicked off our beginning Pipes & Drums program. The class will be held in the High school band room from 6-7:30 pm on Mondays. This class is available for everyone no matter the skill level.
Schnitzer Cares
Our local chapter has chosen the following mission statement for their grant awards program this year:
The Weston McEwen High School Schnitzer Care group will be granting money to organizations that support addiction services for youth in Umatilla County; however, we are also willing to consider applications from other areas of Eastern Oregon. We believe many youths in our community are affected by the prevalence of drugs, alcohol and other harmful substances; our mission is to help provide grant money to organizations that are committed to supporting youth addiction services primarily because we are a rural area with few resources. We will focus on programming that helps young people to maintain their addiction-free status and avoid relapsing.
