Science Meets Storytelling at Westminster Woods

Posted Date: 10/19/26 (10:43 AM)

On October 14, Weston-McEwen sophomores and juniors spent the day at Westminster Woods, where biology and writing came together outdoors. The morning focused on biology, with students exploring the forest alongside expert guides. After lunch, they settled into quiet spots among the trees to write in the Transcendental tradition, reflecting on what they had observed and experienced.

The trip brought together two departments to give students a hands-on look at how science and writing can grow from the same curiosity about the world around us. Watch the video below to see the day through their eyes.
Thank you to our guides and staff for making this experience possible.
