On Saturday, January 27, the WMHS "CommuniCare" Club and WMHS Honor Society will sponsor two showings of a classic 1970s Bigfoot film at the Athena Gem Theatre. The film was produced by Ron Olson, Mr. Olson's dad and it was distributed and shown around the world. Ron will be on hand for the showing. This is a joint fundraiser between CommuniCare (an arm of the Schnitzer Foundation) and Honor Society. For each dollar raised up to $750 total, CommuniCare will receive ten dollars. The proceeds will be granted out to area food banks. Admission is $10 per person at the door, including popcorn. Attention Athena-Weston Families: Due to icy road conditions and expected low temperatures overnight, the Athena-Weston School District will be on a 2-HOUR DELAY tomorrow, Thursday, January 18, 2024. School will begin at 10am for all students. Bus route pick up times will be approximately 2 hours later than normal. As a reminder, breakfast will not be served when there is a 2-hour delay. We will reassess conditions in the morning and will follow up with further information by 8am should there be a need to cancel individual bus routes or close school. Thank you.
