Principal's Welcome

As principal of Weston McEwen High School, it is my privilege to welcome students and parents back to another outstanding year. As a staff we are excited to have students back to school taking full advantage of our academic offerings and extra-curricular activities. This year promises to be filled with excellent opportunities for all students as we strive to produce graduates exceptionally educated; ready to excel in college, careers and life.

During the 2017-2018 school year, the high school staff will continue the work to refine and build upon what makes our high school great and to make every student a valued member of the Weston McEwen family. Our mission is “Striving for PRIDE, RESPONSIBILITY, and ACHIEVEMENT”.

We will start off the school year by having students register the week starting August 28th. Seniors and Juniors are scheduled to register on Monday, August 28th from 8:00am-3:00pm. Sophomores and Freshmen are scheduled to participate in our new Link Crew orientation and registration event on Wednesday, August 29th at 9:00am – 12:00pm (please refer to flyer included with this mailing). It is very important for all Freshmen and Sophomores to attend the Link Crew orientation and registration on August 29th. However, if a student is unable to attend the Link Crew orientation he/she can register on Thursday, August 31st from 8:00am-6:30pm.

There has been a tremendous amount of work completed or in process at the high school and elementary school this summer as a result of our communities passing the school bond in May 2016. On behalf of our students and staff, THANK YOU. It is important to know school security improvements will require entering the school through the front entrance.

We are very excited to announce lunch will be served at the high school from 11:40am to 12:10pm, instead of requiring students to walk to the elementary school for lunch. I’m also pleased to announce breakfast will be served at the high school before school from 7:40am to 8:00am. The District is requesting parents fill out and return a single application for free or reduced meals, even if you do not qualify. The State of Oregon will continue to cover the cost for students who qualify for reduced meals. In addition to providing no cost meals to students, the District also receives critical Federal Title 1 funding based upon the number and percentage of students who qualify for free or reduced meals.

I am truly honored to be able to return to the district this year to serve as your interim principal for the 2017-2018 school year and look forward to meeting and working with you and your child. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 541-566-3551 or at
